Summer Ball at Tortworth Court

We were delighted to be booked again by the Database Group for their annual Summer Ball, this year held in the beautiful Tortworth Court near Bristol. We greeted guests with some sumptuous classical music, and then helped the atmosphere become more relaxed by moving into some jazz to accompany dinner.

Our first Civil Partnership booking!

Congratulations to Alan and Neil who held their civil partnership at the Old Council House in Bristol.

The couple had chosen a number of special requests for the ceremony, including ‘Sway’, and ‘La Cumparsita’. It was a moving moment when Alan phoned his mum so that she could listen to the vows despite being too ill to attend, and a Spanish friend dedicated a translation of the vows to the happy couple.

Afterwards we played for our first water-based drinks reception! The couple had booked us to play during their river cruise to the reception venue, and we had so much fun playing guests’ requests. We had also prepared Quartet accompaniments for ‘Old Man River’ and ‘Some Enchanted Evening’ which were sung beautifully by a friend of the couple – to rapturous applause from everyone on board!

Wedding music in Gloucestershire

Congratulations Laura and Neale!

Today was an extremely special day for the Quartet, as we were asked to play the famous and beautiful ‘Lark Ascending’ by Vaughan-Williams, in Down Ampney Church where the composer had been born and much of his music premiered here. We felt privileged to perform such a significant piece during the signing of the registers, and have since been overwhelmed by compliments from the happy couple and their guests. We would like to thank them again for their kind words.

Laura and Neale held their reception at Cripps Barn, where we performed lively classical and jazz music whilst drinks were served. After moving into the marquee for the wedding breakfast we dedicated a performance of ‘Happy Birthday’ to a number of guests, and played people’s choices from our Jukebox cards. The emphasis was most definitely on  having fun by everyone present!

Congratulations Sarah and Edward

We went back to some of our old haunts in Wales for a wedding in St Fagan’s Church and the Cardiff Marriott. The couple chose Pachelbel’s Canon for the bride’s entrance, Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring, and the Waltz from ‘Sleeping Beauty’ for their traditional church ceremony.

Our Jukebox option is certainly proving a popular choice for wedding breakfasts, and there was applause and cheers from around the room as we played guests’s choices during the meal!

Wedding reception at Orchardleigh House

Congratulations Shelley and Stephen!

We love visiting this beautiful House, and luckily the couple had beautiful weather! We played a mixture of music on the terrace as champagne was served and guests mingled in the gardens whilst photos were taken.

Another wedding in Clearwell Castle!

Congratulations to Mo and Emma who booked us for their whole wedding day in Clearwell Castle.

We love playing for such enthusiastic and appreciative people as this happy couple, who decided to have a lot of input into the music we played for their day. The ceremony began with traditional choices such as Boccherini ‘Minuet’ and Wagner ‘Wedding March’, but with the popular twist of ‘All you need is Love’ as exit music! We played a long list of the couple’s favourite pop and jazz songs for the drinks reception, and kept guests guessing what would come next during the wedding breakfast as everyone used the Jukebox cards placed on the tables. There was a lot of enthusiastic participation – particularly during the Abba medley!

Wedding music in Bristol

Congratulations Kirstie and Damian!

Today we were closer to home for a wedding in Christchurch, Clifton. The couple had decided to surprise their guests by having the Beatles ‘All you need is Love’ for the entrance AND exit music! It was great to see the smiles on people’s faces as they realised what was happening. Following the ceremony we headed to their wedding reception at Ashton Court and played lots of pop and jazz arrangements whilst drinks were served, and continued the quirky theme by including requests as diverse as ‘Purple Haze’ and songs by Abba!

Congratulations Joanna and Gavin

Today we headed off to the Camels in Somerset, to play for the wedding of Joanna and Gavin. We played traditional classical music including Pachelbel’s Canon in D and music by Bach for the church service, followed by a mixture of the couple’s favourite classical and jazz pieces in the marquee whilst drinks were served.
